Chinese New Year Parade
A few weekends ago MinkeyMo heard from a man in a bar that it was the Chinese New Year parade the next day. D and G had been told about this but had, of course, forgotten exactly when it was.
So the next day, they dutifully trotted in to town and took up station on Stockton Street to await the parade.
There was a man selling vuvuzelas. For real.
There were policemen on motorbikes driving up and down the street. MinkeyMo needed D's help to get a good view.
But finally there were parade-like happenings!
- Vuvuzela salesman doing a roaring trade.
- Stop! Stop! Ek’s a spiedkop!
- Flag-waving people. Each flag had an animal representing a year.
- SFPD Dragon Dance Team
- SFPD Dragon Dance Team with friendly dragon
- Horses!
- Dancing umbrella people
- Thai people.
- Tall people
- Ladies popping out of a wooden fan. This appeared to be a bit of a theme and happened on various occasions in the parade.
